How to Remove Goalkeeper Glove Palm Plastic

Identify removable palm film, lift it carefully and follow the specific glove’s preparation instructions before first use.

Check that it is removable film

Some goalkeeper gloves arrive with a thin protective film over the latex palm. Others do not. Check the instructions for the actual model before trying to lift a surface layer. Do not assume a coating, coloured latex area or bonded component is packaging that should be removed.

Review fit and your supplier’s inspection process first. Film removal and washing can change the condition of a sample; agree how trial pairs and approval pairs will be handled before a club distributes them.

Lift an edge without digging into the latex

If removable film is present, use the intended edge or tab and lift it gently. Avoid knives, scissors or scratching at the palm. Work slowly rather than pulling a large section sharply. Keep removed film pieces away from the playing area and check finger sides and seams for loose fragments.

Where the glove’s instructions permit it, lukewarm water can help release the film. Do not use hot water, solvents or improvised chemical cleaners. If the layer will not release, stop and ask for the method for that actual palm instead of increasing force.

Prepare and dry the glove as instructed

Follow the specified first-wash or preparation routine after film removal. Dry naturally away from direct heat and sunlight. A brand’s exact soaking time or washing order should not be carried across to every latex construction. Keep the instructions tied to the actual approved glove.

Make first use part of the private label brief

Ask whether the proposed palm is supplied with film and approve a simple care insert showing the actual removal edge. Let a person unfamiliar with the sample follow the instructions while you observe where they hesitate. Improve the insert before applying it to the whole range.

Record whether a reference pair retains its film and identify any pair prepared for handling trials. That small distinction keeps a new, untouched approval sample separate from one that has already been washed and used.

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

Your project
questions, answered.

From your first sample to a branded range, here are the details buyers ask us about.

Ask our team
Does every new glove have palm plastic?

No. Check the actual model and its instructions before attempting to remove a layer.

Should I use a blade to start the film?

Do not cut or dig into the latex. Use the intended edge or tab; ask the supplier if the film does not release gently.

Can I use the same soaking time for every palm?

Follow the approved preparation instructions for the actual glove. A method published for another product is not a universal specification.
